EcoOptimism is not blind. We have our moments of despair. Occasionally, we\u2019ll post a story that tries its damndest to ruin our day<\/span> raise the alarum.\u00a0 <\/em><\/p>\n

This one\u2019s a little less timely than future ones will be because we didn\u2019t want to dilute our optimism too early in the blog.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cNearly all of Greenland’s massive ice sheet suddenly started melting a bit this month, a freak event that surprised scientists.\u201d That\u2019s the lede<\/a> from a USA Today\/AP article. From the gist of the reports, I\u2019d call that more than \u201ca bit.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cScientists Say They\u2019ve Never Seen Anything Like This Before\u201d was the quote from ABC that Climate Progress led with<\/a> (though I couldn\u2019t find that quote on ABC\u2019s site), followed by \u201cNASA reported today<\/a> some truly shocking findings on the melting of the Greenland ice sheet this summer.\u201d<\/p>\n

NASA\u2019s website headlined<\/a>: \u201cSatellites See Unprecedented Greenland Ice Sheet Surface Melt.\u201d<\/p>\n
